Our Heritage
Leon's Legacy® Family Heritage
At Leon’s Legacy® we believe in both treasuring memories and making memories — and we believe the best memories are made outdoors, around the table, or both. For four generations, our family recipe for Tartar Sauce has woven its way into the memories we’ve made with family and friends, neighbors and coworkers. Now we’re packaging it, and our other delicious products, to share with friends and neighbors, even those we haven’t met yet.
In the 1930’s Oscar Leon Rogers, Sr., a fireman from Waco, Texas, moved to Galveston Island. He loved fishing, eating fish, and sharing the catch with friends and family. He developed our amazing Tartar Sauce, which has now been served at fish fries over four generations.
Our family has always loved boating, hunting, fishing, and understanding nature and the habitats within it – bays, the ocean and surf, woodlands, prairies, rivers, brackish waters, lakes, and farm ponds. We also love turning home-grown vegetables and the bounty of the catch into fine backyard feasts, proudly hosting fish fries for birthday parties, family reunions, holidays, and even office parties for our coworkers.
Leon’s Legacy® products are based on four generations of simple outdoor living, soaking up the sunshine on warm summer days spent outdoors or by the water. We affectionately refer to “the four Leons.” Leon, Sr. as Leon 1 (L1), Leon, Jr. as Leon 2 (L2), Wesley Leon as Leon 3 (L3), and Nathaniel Leon as Leon 4 (L4). So you may see us refer to L3 or L4 from time to time, affectionate and fun names we use among ourselves as we work hard to bring you products that build your own legacies!
